SET TO SUCCEED

Set to succeed – Sets Drapes Screens on 3 months in Kwa Zulu Natal.
Sets Drapes Screens (SDS) Durban has got off to a good start since it officially opened its doors in April 2017 under the leadership of Branch Manager, Pieter Brink and General Manager, Karien Eigner. The company provides high-quality set manufacture and installation as well as specialised screen and drape rental services for live events. SDS is also a key member of the 9-strong, internationally recognised, Gearhouse Group of Companies.
SDS Management deliberated for some time before making the decision to expand their service into the region” says Brink “but the Kwa Zulu events market has grown to the extent that it now warrants its own local operation. We were experiencing more and more requests from clients and venues in the region and our existing clients wanted the same benefits here, that they enjoy in Gauteng and the Western Cape.”
Sets Drapes Screens’ manufacturing operation is located in Westmead, Pinetown and has already supplied some notable events, including the Emirates Stand at Indaba, the World Economic Forum, the Durban July, Simon Sabela Awards and the International Jazz Extravaganza, all within the first three months of its existence.
“We thought we would probably start slowly, with venues and perhaps touring events as it makes sense to duplicate sets locally rather than truck them, but we have worked predominantly within the Conference, Exhibition Awards and Product Launch arenas and the enquiries are coming thick and fast” continues Brink.
“As a result our team is growing and the company is thriving“ adds Eigner. “This was clearly a well-considered strategic move for SDS. The Durban branch offers the same level of capabilities, high quality finishes and service delivery level that SDS clients have come to expect from the brand and we are capable of delivering custom-built sets for any size event. We look forward to continued growth in the region with a couple of really challenging scenarios thrown in so that we can really test our capabilities.”
